Their cutting-edge knowledge in their respective areas of expertise illustrates the new motto of CMKZ: Advise Globally, Guide Locally.

INTERNATIONAL TRADE

Laurier Beauchamp has 30 years of experience in international trade and corporate law.  Throughout the years, he has developed a practice that encompasses various economic sectors such as aeronautics, equipment and heavy machinery, consumer goods (textile, apparel, shoes and cosmetics) and food processing, including probiotics.

He represents and assists foreign and domestic corporations to establish themselves in Canada, to negotiate leases and commercial contracts (import/export, manufacture, distribution, etc.) and he advises these corporations on topics related to regulations such as products, foods and country of origin labelling.

IMMIGRATION

Mélanie Couture is specialized in immigration law and has an in-depth knowledge of China.  More specifically, she establishes strategies to fulfill short-term stays and establishment projects in Canada or hiring of foreign workers.  Her expertise includes the preparation of procedures related to requests for work permits, to economic classes for permanent residence (qualified workers and business people), to the reuniting of families, to citizenship as well as the preparation of appeals and judicial reviews in cases of requests that have been denied.

CUSTOMS

Specialized in customs and international trade law, Zave Kaufman has an extensive understanding of commercial and customs issues at stake and the constant changes in regulatory requirements in Canada and in the United States.  In 30 years of practice, he has developed a vast network of Canadian and American government contacts and he brings an ability to anticipate and develop efficient solutions.  Zave Kaufman advises corporations of all sizes, from SME to multinational corporations, while limiting the risks associated with commerce and in respect of customs regulations.

LITIGATION

Gérard Samet has practiced law in France for 25 years, before being admitted to the Quebec Bar in 2010. A specialist in commercial litigation and class actions, he also brings a wide knowledge of the Euro zone, German market and the French civil law to the international jurists of CMKZ.
