Mélanie Couture practices exclusively in immigration law since 2002. She advises individuals and businesses in establishing the best strategy to achieve their projects in order to live and work in Canada or to hire foreign employees. Her expertise covers the preparation of procedures related to applications for work permits, economic categories of permanent residence (skilled workers and business people), family reunification, citizenship and preparation of applications for appeal and judicial review in the event of a refusal of applications by the competent government authority.
She lived in China for nearly seven years, where she participated in the establishment of the local branches of a prestigious Montreal law firm in Hong Kong and in Beijing with the objective to provide legal services to a select clientele of immigrant investors. She is also frequently called upon to travel to the Middle East to meet prospective candidates in order to advise, guide and assist them in the interview selection process and information seminars for immigration into Canada.
A dynamic communicator, she is frequently invited to give seminars and trainings. An active member of the Quebec Association of Immigration Lawyers, she regularly participates in discussions with government authorities regarding the implementation and improvements to Canada’s immigration policies.
